Season 4 of ThePitCrew was the first to host a GT4 championship on Assetto Corsa Competizione. The 5 rounds gave loads of entertainment for the viewers on Twitch, and were globally much appreciated by the drivers. What is really impressive about this category is that the 11 cars are so very different from one another… but all very close in performance. So I got curious about what our community was feeling about these GT4s and thought it would be a good idea to put it all out there! After a poll and quite the number of conversations, here are the awaited results, including the infamous “best GT4 car” according to ThePitCrew’s community.

Oh, hell yeah we are gonna talk about the looks of these beauties. Of course, it’s very subjective but we still put to a vote “what’s the most good looking one of the pack?“. Interesting enough, the grades were good for every car. What’s coming out of it though, is that our community finds two cars more attractive than average.

The best looking for us is the V8 Vantage GT4 and the BMW M4 GT4! Despite being beefy, the Bimmer has seduced our community with its sharp lines and sexy head/tail lights. About the Aston Martin, well… Does it need any kind of explanation? It is an Aston Martin after all.

Down the grid on aesthetics according to our community, we find the Chevrolet Camaro, the KTM Xbow and the Maserati. Yeah, the American brick might not be the most graceful one of the pack. Ok, the KTM might look weird to some, but she did conquer a few hearts amongst ThePitCrew, in the first season of our GT4 Sprint Championship! And the Maserati is a bit older than the other ones, so she suffers a little disadvantage here. But we love them anyway, and what’s next will prove that to you!

Eargasms allowed: which GT4 sounds the best to us?

Oh, that’s a fancy one. At, we really like listening to race cars. We mostly prefer them loud, but after that, all tastes share the house! The GT4 field is implemented from the official GT World Challenge, therefore in Assetto Corsa Competizione, this means a very mixed variety in terms of engines. It goes from two little 4 bangers to a V10, through a 6 and 8-cylinder glorious selection.

The drivers voted and, the two best-sounding GT4 cars in ACC are the Maserati GranTurismo MC and the Chevy Camaro. Two big V8s! We are particularly fond of the superb downshift sound of the Italian one.

Even in the middle of 20 other roaring engines, you can’t miss the downshift sound of the GranTurismo GT4!

What’s really funny is that, despite having exactly the same 4.0 V8 engine, the Mercedes AMG GT4 and the V8 Vantage did not get the same amount of votes! So it seems like the Germans are putting this engine to better use when it comes to ear love.

The difficult ones: we love to hate them!

I said at the beginning of this article that all of the GT4 cars in ACC are very close in terms of performance. That is true, yet it takes a great kind of driver to elevate some of them to the performance level of others. The community mostly agreed on three cars that are a bit bitchy but you know what? I say that’s what makes their charm.

First, the Maserati is obviously hard to tame. The wild engine might be enjoyable to everyone, but the absence of both ABS and TC makes it pretty demanding when you want to push it to its limits. We would not recommend the GranTurismo MC GT4 to a beginner! However, if you’re good enough, it might be the most rewarding of the GT4 Pack when you’re roaring away from your competitors.

The Alpine A110 GT4 and the KTM Xbow GT4 both have their aficionados. They are peculiar cars, and they share a few common traits. Both take their pride in being pretty light; their small 4-cylinder engines (1.8 and 2.0) are therefore not that powerful, and force their drivers to keep a great momentum in every corner in order to be quick. That ain’t easy with these two middle-engined cars, because it takes a handful of good driving and setup skills to keep them stable and efficient.

ThePitCrew’s advice: our favorite to easily be quick with!

I’ve asked every of our drivers which GT4 he thought to be the easiest one on the go. What came out is two groups of cars.

Clearly, the two cars that almost everyone agrees on being very easy to just drive with, are the Mercedes AMG GT4, and the Aston V8 Vantage GT4. If you’re starting the game for the first time after buying the GT4 DLC Pack, these two you can trust immediately, no questions asked!

A second pack of cars came quite short after those two. Indeed, the Camaro, the McLaren 570S and the Porsche Cayman are considered fairly easy to understand and master. Each one of these three has its little quirks that you have to deal with, but won’t snap at you for no reason. At least, they should not!

The naturally competitive

Of course we also managed to get the opinion of the community on what’s the most competitive car of the pack, no matter if they like it or not. The answers were pretty clear: the podium of the quickest GT4 cars overall is, for us, Mercedes AMG GT4, Aston Martin V8 Vantage, and Porsche 718 Cayman. You also can’t go wrong about the BMW M4, which has been granted the 4th place of that poll.

And again, it doesn’t mean the other ones aren’t competitive. Rabih Hawwa proved the KTM can be very competitive when you know how to tame it. Andreas Schwerin just became our GT4 Sprint Cup champion with the Chevrolet Camaro, which he “really came to love”. He says that with the correct setup tweaks, “you can throw it in the corners like nothing else”. Trust him, he knows what he’s doing. We’ve seen some drivers score very good results with pretty much every car of the field, even the Ginetta or the Alpine, which did not even register any vote for “most competitive”. So you can work your way up there with any ot the 11 GT4s in ACC!

If you’re a beginner though, or want to get rather competitive without putting too much effort in preparation, our advice is to go with either the V8 Vantage GT4 or the AMG GT4. Both are reliable, easy to adapt to, and absolutely got the pace to get podiums.

The BEST ACC GT4 car according to ThePitCrew’s community!

In order to award this title, my method has been to mix every input of the previous poll questions with two more things.

The first one was to allow every driver to rank each of the cars on a scale from 1 to 5 stars, without giving any reason for their note. This game gave the following result:

  1. Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 CS: 4.11
  2. Aston Martin V8 Vantage GT4: 3.89
  3. Mercedes AMG GT4: 3.85
  4. BMW M4 GT4: 3.70
  5. Chevrolet Camaro GT4: 3.54
  6. McLaren 570S GT4: 3.38
  7. Ginetta G55 GT4: 3.04
  8. Maserati GranTurismo MC GT4: 2.71
  9. Audi R8 GT4: 2.63
  10. KTM Xbow GT4: 2.62
  11. Alpine A110 GT4: 2.47

Thank you, everyone, for breaking my heart with voting the Alpine even below the average grade of 2.5/5. Its French touch doesn’t seem to appeal too much to our community! We can see that mostly the difficult cars to handle stand low, while the easy/competitive ones are up the rankings!

The second was a unique answer from every voter to the following question: “if you had to pick one, and only one, which would it be?“. Tough one, right?

Well, our drivers had to answer anyway! And there was only one winner to that last poll question, with quite a considerable margin too, and it is none other than… the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 ClubSport (21% of the votes)! Surprisingly, the Mercedes wasn’t high up. It’s good, it’s easy, it sounds good, it looks good… But it’s not enough for us at ThePitCrew! Maybe it is a bit boring? I didn’t get bored driving it for two hours at Laguna Seca, but maybe it was due to the heavy rain we had to deal with… Who knows?

Anyway, it seems like there’s no doubt about it, Porsche wins it again… The best GT4 car in Assetto Corsa Competizione is, for ThePitCrew’s community, the 718 Cayman GT4

The GT4 field in Assetto Corsa Competizione is absolutely stunning in realism. So every car behaves differently from one another, each with its perks and its flaws. At the end of the day, every driver gets a different feeling about them and will not be passionate about the same one as his neighbour. That’s what makes this category and this sim special.
